Overview

News App: RSS Reader & More is a news reader for iPhone and Mac, published by Hudley Holdings LLC. We do not run servers for the app, we do not collect analytics, and we do not sell or share your data. This policy covers both the iOS and macOS versions.

Data Stored on Your Device

The app keeps your library on your iPhone or Mac, inside the app's own storage:

Links you send from the share sheet wait in a small queue shared between the app and its extensions until the app picks them up. Home Screen widgets read a short list of recent headlines that the app writes to that same shared storage.

The app writes diagnostic logs to your device (on the Mac, under ~/Library/Logs/NewsApp/). Logs shorten web addresses to the site name. They stay on your device and are never sent anywhere by the app.

iCloud Sync

If you are signed in to iCloud, the app syncs your sources, read state, bookmarks, filter rules, radio stations, and some preferences between your devices using Apple's CloudKit. This data goes to your private iCloud database. We cannot read it. Apple's privacy policy covers how iCloud stores it. You can turn off iCloud for the app in your device's iCloud settings.

Sync Service Accounts

You can connect an account from a feed service such as Feedbin, NewsBlur, FreshRSS, BazQux, or The Old Reader. Your username and password (or token) are stored in the system Keychain on your device and are sent only to that service. The app then exchanges your subscriptions and read state directly with that service. Its privacy policy covers that data.

Notifications

Notifications are off until you turn them on for a topic, source, or rule. When a match is found, the app records a short alert (the topic or source name and which stories matched) in your private iCloud database so your other devices can show it too. Apple delivers the notification through its push service. We do not run a notification server and never see these alerts.

Location

Location is optional and used only for weather on the Today page. The app asks for your location at city-level accuracy and rounds the coordinates to two decimal places (about 1 km) before storing them. Those rounded coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to get the forecast. We do not receive or store your location. You can turn weather off in Settings or deny location access in your device's settings. On the Mac, location may also be used on the device to sort nearby radio stations; those coordinates are not sent anywhere.

Network Requests

The app connects directly from your device to the services needed for the features you use:

Each of these receives normal request information such as your IP address, the address requested, and the time. Their own privacy policies govern that information.

What the App Does Not Do

Deleting Your Data

Deleting the app removes the data stored on that device. To remove synced data, delete the app's data from iCloud storage in your device's iCloud settings. To remove data held by a feed sync service, use that service's account settings.

Children's Privacy

The app does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app itself collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes to This Policy
